You may remember Erik Qualman’s very popular video The Social Media Revolution, that was originally published in 2009 in conjunction with his #1 best selling book (and one of my personal favorite social media books) Socialnomics. His original video from 2009 brought us some eye-opening statistics, including:
- That Ashton Kutcher and Ellen Degeneres have more Twitter followers than the entire population of Ireland, Norway and Panama
- YouTube is the 2nd largest search engine in the world
- That 25% of search results for the world’s top 20 largest brands are links to user-generated content
- More than 1.5 million pieces of content are shared on Facebook daily
In mid-April Erik published his newest video on the state of social media #Socialnomics 2014. This video is technically the 5th video in his series on social media. In just three minutes, this video will open your eyes to the vast impact of social media right now. Such as, did you know that grandparents are the fastest growing demographic on Twitter? Check out the whole video and learn more about the vast power social media.
